- with or without added 7ths, 9ths, 11ths or 13ths
- with or without essential 3rds or 5ths.
- passing chord

- explicit or implicit
- chord inversion,
- duration of a chord,
- position of a chord in the bar,
- use of pedal notes
- resulting from linear
progressions
- implied harmonies when only 2 or three voices are present
- complex contrapuntal inter-plays.
